Yukon to Cordell 83 miles

TODAY was hot! We woke up at 5 so that we could beat the heat. I woke up 20 minutes late and was still one of the first people to get my bag out to the trailer. When I walked outside though the stars were still out....

After breakfast we hit the road and it was a little chilly to be honest. But no worries that didn't last long!

We hit hills and head winds all day. I was pedaling downhill and only going 14 mph, it was so frustrating.

We had first lunch at an abandoned gas station, but didn't stay for long so that we could beat the heat.

As the day went on it got hotter and hotter. We stopped at this old abandoned house for a snack break. There was only shade under the porch so I decided to go over. But there was a wire fence in the way. As I reached down to move it out of the way I thought to myself I hope this isn't electrified. And just my luck, it was! It didn't really hurt, it just startled me.

We made it to second lunch about 10 miles later. Had a quick snack, refilled our water bottles and then headed off.

The road we were in was really straight, so at the tops of the hills you could see for miles and miles. We made it through the heat some how and as soon as we got to the host took cold showers.

Another 5 am wake up to beat the heat, Texas tomorrow!
