Salem IL to St. Louis Missouri 89 miles

Today rocked. We woke up at 5 and were on the road biking before 7:30. It was flat with a tail wind. We made it 40 miles to lunch before 10 am . Crazy! We had lunch at a baseball field. There was a little league game going on and we sat and ate PB&J watching the game.

After lunch we just cruised through farm land and this cute little town named Lebanon. It was kinda funny, one side of the street was all houses like any normal neighborhood. Then on the other side of the curb was just miles and miles of farm land, as far as you could see.

We stopped for our second lunch at a burger and frozen custard place. As soon as we left we could see a storm in the distance, but we figured that we would beat it. The clouds were so cool looking in the distance. About 5 miles later it started to rain. We got to a little clearing on the road and you could see the storm setting in. Once it started to rain we stopped for a second. The rain was literally going horizontal.

Another group caught up with us when we stopped and we all just sang in the rain for a little. The rain let up a little so we started up again. We all got a little lost looking for the bridge to cross the Mississippi. Finally we found it. Well what we thought was it. We crossed the river and then came to another bridge that actually crossed the Mississippi. Apparently there was another river along side the Mississippi.

The state line sign for Missouri was really cool. It was a RT 66 sign that was also a bike rack. (in the middle of the bridge) Once we got over the second bridge we hit hills again. We were on this one road for about 6 miles that was just huge rolling hills.

Tonight we are staying at the University of Missouri in their sports complex. We had dinner at a friend of the Webbers house. Home cooked food, SO GOOD. Day off tomorrow. 3 things to do, sleep in, get my phone fixed FINALLY, go see the Arch.
