Salome to Parker 66 miles

Today was a short ride but we still woke up early to beat the heat. We had a tail wind so we flew. We made it 40 miles in under 2 hours.

Had a quick lunch on the side of the road and head out. Once we got into Parker a bunch of us stopped at subway to eat again.

It was only 10 when we got into town. So to kill some time we stopped at the casino and hung out there for a while. I played 3 dollars on the penny slots.... Which took all of 10 minutes. We tried to DM some rooms to sleep in since we were camping. But no dice.

After enjoying the AC for a couple hours we decided to head out. I walked outside and to my surprise had a flat! We fixed it quickly and pedaled off. The last 8 miles to to site felt like they took forever.

We got to the camp site and headed straight for the colorado river to cool down. There was a floating bar on the river that we all hung out at for a while. We all had so much fun swimming haning around the bar.

We headed back to have dinner and got to bed around 6 since we had a 2:30 am wake up. After dinner we all tried to go to bed. But I have never been so hot in my life. Imagine opening the oven door and the burst of hot air that blows at you. Now imagine that all night long. Long story short after 2 cold showers and lots of tossing and turning I got about 2 hours of sleep.... Who knew the desert was so hot at night!
