Early wake up and out by 7 to try and beat the heat. About 5 miles outside of town we hit the valley of fire which was so cool looking. It is this valley that has all of these lava rocks and crazy looking plants.
The first 30 miles were pretty much all uphill about 1600 feet. We had lunch at a rest stop and hung out for a while. The views were amazing!!!!!!!!
Then the last 48 miles were rolling downhill about 2200 feet. While we were riding in the hills looked like they were a painted backdrop.
We stopped about 10 miles out at the first gas station we had seen all day. Got some snacks and then headed off to the host. It was so hot those last 10 miles.
We are staying at a pastors house which is really nice. Right when we got in he had burgers waiting for us. Around 4 a bunch of us left for the bike shop to have some repairs done. Almost 4 hours later we are still here..... Good thing I had a burger or I would be grumpy!
